Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus must have been ordered from Gavial for the whole domain before it can be applied to individual users' accounts.
To configure Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam for a user
(NB please note that each POP account is configured separately. Filtering will not work for a user before it is set up by the user. Each address has to be set up separately.)
- go to http://mail.<domain-name>/myaccount
- log on with POP3 username and password
- from there you can change the 'threshold' that spam is
filtered above, and see the contents of that mailbox's quarantine area.
By default the threshold is set to 20, which is fairly ineffective. Setting
it between 8 and 10 will catch a lot of obvious spam, 4 to 5 will catch
about 70% of spam, and for very effective filtering, set it to something
like 2 or 3. The lower the threshold is (particularly lower than 3), the
more times you should check the quarantine folder to make sure legitimate
mail hasn't been filtered by mistake. If a lot of legitimate mail is being
filtered, then increase the threshold slightly, to achieve a balance that's
right for you.
